LA CONDA RANCH INC. - ABOUT US

FOUNDING FATHERS

My grandfather, Lud Patton, moved to Corning, CA, from Milwaukee and bought several different farms to form La Conda Ranch around 1950. At that time, olives were definitely a luxury item. The bigger the olive the better! Now, it seems that everyone wants small olives for their pizzas.

My father started to work on the farm around 1955. He had plans to make ponds, improve the irrigation systems, and plant and re-plant more trees. He incorporated the farm in 1961, for organizational and liability purposes. He successfully ran the farm until 1981, the year of his untimely death at age 46.

I took over La Conda Ranch Inc. in 1982. At that time, I further improved the irrigation systems with micro-sprinklers for water conservation. I also planted undeveloped acreage in olives, re-planted existing orchards, and increased production to stay competitive in a world market. We now produce quality olives for many companies. We produce some olives for oil, Spanish-style, Sicilian-style, Black Ripe, Green Ripe, and fresh market olives.

We take great pride in managing the land wisely, being careful not to overuse pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers. We believe in natural and organic farming. I am presently in the process of getting part of the farm organically certified. Pheasant, turkey, deer, coyotes, rabbits, raccoons, possums, skunks, foxes and ground squirrels roam the property. We have 7 duck and goose ponds that are used to recycle water from the orchards. Quail have nesting grounds in the blackberry bushes around some of the orchards.

We currently produce and pack the freshest olives in the world. The quality of our product is very important to us. We are here to satisfy our customers.
