Corning was a good place to grow up, class of '63. Pat Develter Isham patisham@gmail.com Business Web Page: http://www.konabayviewinn.com I grew up in Red Bluff, so know the Tehama County thing. We attended a Rotary meeting on Dec 1 in Corning, and saw a refreshing change - Tehama County without the RB Roundup touch & feel. Hooray! Arlene baholman@charter.net St. Peters, MO USA - Friday, February 19, 2010, at 1:25 PM I saw a mention of Arthur (Doc) Meuser in a post. Doc was my great uncle, my grandfather's brother. I remember many childhood visits to the old mansion in town. I remember it when Doc, Evelyn, George, Helen (Tracy) and Leona lived in it. I remember riding horses down into town with Leona to get ice cream. I also stayed there when Doc converted the stables to a home. I remember when Doc built the clinic across the street. In later years Doc lived in Red Bluff and worked for the Tehama County Public Health Dept. Recently I went by the mansion and it was sad. I was there about 10 years ago when it was a B&B. That was sad enough - gone was all the plastered walls and coving, replaced with sheetrock. Now the yard is paved over, there is hardly a tree. Nothing like it used to be. A little history - not exact as I'd have to dig too far to get the exact dates, but the mansion was the first or one of the first solar hot water residences. I'm looking for the email addresses of my cousins, Helen (Tracy), George and Leona. If you know of these, send me an email Michael R. Meuser Email mike@mapcruzin.com. We grew up knowing the most amazing family, and when we looked at your website, we could not find one piece of information on them, or the fact that they were a figurehead in the town then. I am speaking of Dr. Meuser, his wife Evelyn, Oldest daughter Helen, Son George and youngest daughter Leona. He owned the 19 room big white house on the hill on the same street that the Chamber and the police station is on. He was instrumental in bringing the hospital(across the street from his home)to Corning. He helped everyone in corning, accepting chickens, food, domestic work, from whoever could not afford to pay him. He retired, and the his home was sold, and later turned into "Docs Country Inn".
